Maintaining the elasticity of the brain. Carving new neural pathways. Challenging negative beliefs. Affirmations have huge therapeutic value. Here are ours:
- I am the only person who has control over my eating habits. And one day, I will have control over my drinking habits too.
- Britney got through 2007, I can get through today.
- I listen to my inner guide when it says, “Don’t socialise with other humans tonight, you’re too behind on Homeland.”
- I am safe! Except between 2am and 6.30am!
- Abundance flows freely through me and then straight out of my bank account.
- I accept my power. I just don’t know how to turn it on.
- I choose to release all my hurt and resentment. And take it out on you for no reason.
- Every experience I have is perfect for my growth (which is probably Cancer – make sure they play Bring Me Sunshine at my funeral).
- I am comfortable looking in the mirror and saying, ‘I love you’. Particularly after I’ve just finished a bottle of Night Nurse.
- I am surrounded by love. Especially when the Ocado delivery man has been.
- I forgive myself and set myself free to go and make more heinous mistakes.
- Today is going to be a really good day. Unless someone texts me saying, “We need to talk” and then it’ll be ruined.
- I am active and alive apart from when I want to be asleep on the sofa with a hot water bottle up my jumper.
- Wellness is the natural state of my body, which is why I don’t bother with the gym.
- I still choose love over anger. I still choose happiness over sorrow. I still choose Big over Aidan.
- My day begins and ends with gratitude and joy. It’s only in the middle that I feel rage.
