If you can’t convince them, confuse them

Have you noticed, recently, strange happenings? Odd conversations when you suddenly feel even madder than usual and you’re not sure why. But there’s you, trying to talk about the matter at hand. And then there’s them, talking about… what? It’s like that The Two Ronnies Mastermind sketch where he keeps giving the answer to two questions ago. Except it’s not a sketch. It’s your life.

People, we find, are currently transmitting a lot of interference. And it’s making us feel even more WTF than usual. Veering towards WTFFFF actually? There is a conspiracy at play – more in professional circles than personal ones but it will no doubt infect every area – to play a rather sinister game and it goes a little like this: if you can’t convince them, confuse them. In other words, if you don’t quite know what you are talking about, if there is a chance that you have dropped a stitch along the way and are now slightly at a loss, if you don’t much like the way the conversation/meeting is going, if you want to prevent progress being made, then… talk about something other than the matter at hand. Run your own parallel operation. Sound conclusive and resounding even though nothing you say is leading anywhere…

Is it just us or are there more and more of these weirdly circular discussions happening? Could be that we are only truly ourselves on Instagram? Is this the beginning of conversation breaking down? Or are people just arseholes? Please discuss…
