Beauty School Dropout: CeraVe smoothing cream

Generally BSD believes that high street body moisturisers are the way to go. The thing about smart, pricey ones is – for all the luxurious fragrance and delicate texture – one is haunted by the price per squirt. Ugh. Anyway, best to use something that responds to your skin’s needs rather than to the tug of your purse strings.

From what we hear, everyone’s skin – both face and body – has gone a bit bonkers over the last few months. Along with sleep, hormones and mental health. The ever-present thrum of anxiety is never going to produce a healthful glow. Could be spots, lines, dark circles, ingrown hairs or, in BSD’s case, dry patches, lumps and bumps. Chicken skin but also parched and a bit red. Just as summer hits.

CeraVe is always great and to be trusted but their SA Smoothing Cream is highly effective when it comes to sorting out troubled pelts. It contains Salicylic Acid to exfoliate (helps discourage those gory, ingrown bastards) as well as 10% Urea to retain natural moisture and Hyaluronic acid: the great plumper. CeraVe’s signature ceramides also help protect and strengthen the skin’s natural barriers.

Unscented, it soaks in easily and goes to work on the stressed blotches and rough splodges making you feel… almost human again. Right now, we need allies and we need them to be cheap. Nine quid, I reckon it lasts me a month. I’m saving the smart stuff for sillier times.

CeraVe SA Smoothing Cream with Salicylic Acid, 177ml, £9
