Sex. Yes. Let’s discuss. Some of us are hot and horny, experiencing a kind of surge. Others, well, not so much. Anyway in the spirit of togetherness we bring you some food that alledgedly boost your libido. Go get ‘em tigers. Or you could have a cuppa and a nice bath. Over to you:
1. Cold water fish
Wild salmon and other cold-water fish (such as sardines, herring, trout and anchovies) are guaranteed to boost your sexual stamina. It’s all the Omega 3. Plus you might also remember the shag because it boosts brain power. Shame about the anchovy breath though. Every silver lining…
I carried a watermelon – and it was totally full of the L-citurlline, an amino acid that helps improve blood flow to the sexual organs. It converts to nitric oxide in the bloodstream, and we all know that low levels of nitric oxide are associated with mental and physical fatigue and sexual dysfunction. Boo.
Honestly I don’t know why asparagus keeps appearing on these lists. I mean, yes asparagus has been considered a successful aphrodisiac since ancient times. Yes, it is rich in potassium and folic acid, a B vitamin that helps increase the production of histamine, which is important for a healthy sex drive. But the pee.
4. Pumpkin seeds
Like oysters (that old chestnut), pumpkin seeds are very rich in zinc, which is important for testosterone, and therefore libido. Just remember to floss.
Apparently a powerful aphrodisiac. Is this list suddenly looking a little suspicious to you? Is someone messing with us?
As in “Do you ‘av a car though?” Or as in lots of potassium that increases female libido by helping to regulate the woman’s thyroid gland? You choose.
7. Dark chocolate
Apparently it has the ability to mimic the sensation of being in love (due to a chemical called phenylethylamine, also known as the ‘luurrrvvvve chemical’). Research also found that women who enjoyed a piece of chocolate every day had a more active sex life than those who didn’t. How helpful are we?
